Welcome

Welcome to the Office of Scholarly Publications at Georgetown University, informally known as Booklab. Our mission is guiding tenure-line faculty of Georgetown's main campus to scholarly book and article publication at first-tier university presses and major academic journals. Additionally, we work with authors with exceptional backgrounds from outside of Georgetown through paid professional literary advising.

The heart of Booklab is weekly book groups for faculty scholarly publishing. We also host workshops and seminars on academic and trade publishing. We invite you to explore our website and visit our office to discuss how we might work together to make your publishing efforts even more successful.

Book and Article Groups for Faculty

Faculty scholars are matched with a maximum of four colleagues from other departments. In weekly meetings they enjoy the structure of a clear schedule, along with ambitious goals and deadlines. Organizational principles are based on the Franklin/Covey FOCUS program, and books by well-published scholars, plus Carole Sargent's direct experience over years with how and why faculty publish scholarly work in successful and even award-winning ways.

This proven, research-based process works for any book--even older, abandoned projects. Every accepted participant will end the summer with completed output that well exceeds goals set in May.

If you are a member of Georgetown University's faculty and would like to apply, please send a blank e-mail to Booklab, subject line GROUPS, for more information and an application.
